My name is Barbara Gleeson and I live on the coast at Geelong. I did my schooling and most of my worklife here and am not happy when taken away from the sea breezes.
Involved with art from the time I can remember as a child, I chose a creative profession as a hairdresser and after retirement (when the family no longer needed my time and attention) I began to work with my easel.
Having worked in oils and pastels, I then foundÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂ graphite and coloured pencil as a medium. Both of these techniques concentrate on detailed line drawing and this then led on to engraving and scratchboard. These techniques have become my focus.
As I continue to explore the beauty of all things, I have found that I get pleasure from the simplest shapes and line, I love the flora and fauna that aboundÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂ on this earth.
My main interest is to reproduce images of the wildlife of Africa. I have travelled there numerous times and loveÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂ to see the magnificent animals in the wild. I suppose you could say I am somewhat eclectic, as I enjoy still life and portraits also.
I have had no formal training, it's a case of get in there and see what I can produce, this makes me happy.ÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÃÂÂÂÂ |
