ARTIST NOTES: This finely detailed artwork represents the Volcano Momotombo in Nicaragua, a symbol of identity for the country and regeneration and life for its people. The style reflects influences of the symbolism and magic realism typically found in the art of the region, which are reinterpreted in a very personal and original way. The technique is rapidograph (pen) on parchment.

Ena Gordillo Castello is a visual artist born in Managua, Nicaragua in 1950. She completed her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome in 1981 and since then she has been living and working in Italy.
