Dorothy Field
Artist Statement
My favourite painting medium is watercolour in combination with ink. While I have painted in oils since age fifteen I first began painting in watercolour in 2004. I am a founding member of Heidelberg Artists Society. I am a member of Plenty Valley Arts and The Nell Street Painters.
I particularly enjoy painting the Australian flora and respond to the unique shapes, patterns and textural qualities of the leaves, branches, flowers and seedpods. My aim is not to produce a series of botanical representations but to present my personal response to each floral subject. I also take great delight in painting animals and birds. I respond to the challenge of representing the texture of the coat and the communication expressed through the eyes.
My work has been published in Australian Artist Magazine ('When Creativity Collides') and in the publication 'Paint Me A Story'.
