Jenny Chang, Artist
Drawing and painting have been part of Jenny’s life from childhood. A graduate of RMIT’s Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design, Jenny also studied with artists Nell Frysteen and Dianne Emery. Jenny worked as a designer and illustrator over a number of years and recently rediscovered her love of figurative painting. Her painting encompasses a wide range of subjects, including figurative, landscape and botanical, in both watercolour and acrylics. Plays on light and shadow, colour and texture – areas which continue to fascinate many artists – weave their way into Jenny’s work. Her experience in dance and theatre also influence the sense of drama in some of her art. While having a strong realist base, Jenny is also exploring semi-abstract work. Jenny believes that artists do not have to look far beyond their own front doors for inspiration – a quiet moment, a shaft of light, reflections on a pond or a rainy cityscape can all lend themselves to artistic exploration.
