Celtic Creatures by Pip Fleming

Features

ARTIST NOTES: 'Celtic Creatures'
Creatures – animals, insects, birds play a significant part in the evolution process.
In Celtic times the Wolf, Raven, Horse and Snake were an important part of Celtic life.
Their artistic form has become more ‘embellished’ over time.
In this work I’m doing the same, embellishing them in my own Celtic influenced style.
Turquoise, natural pearls, glass, silver, feathers and fur. Some ancient forms of decoration married with some more recent forms of embellishment.
These particular creatures have changed very little over the centuries reflecting their strong genetic heritage.

Pip Fleming – Artist

Pip was born in Auckland, New Zealand and qualified as a Graphic Designer. She spent her early years working as a Designer for various advertising agencies both in New Zealand and Australia. Now, after several years of working with acrylics she is pursuing ‘mixed media’ and her recent works are described as ‘Celtic Life Journeys’ – ‘mixed media’ artworks. Symbolism suggests the journey through life. The works include precious and semi precious stones, glass, metal, wood, shell, paint and other materials.

Her works have mostly been exhibited, & sold, in New Zealand.

She moved to Melbourne with her husband in 2013 and is  continuing with her successful and unique artworks. Her first ‘Australian’ exhibition was held at Brunswick Street Gallery in May / June  2014.

Her works were selected for the prestigious 'Camberwell Art Show' 2014.
